East of Verdun, in the. direction of Etair, the. French mastered two hills, * some, farms of high woods, and a hospital.
At Eparzes, we gained ground and maintained the guns, and took sixty prisoners, including three officers. At Bois Dailly and Bois Brule we repulsed all counter-attacks and made new progress. We were equally successful at Bois Le Pretre and Bandesapt. - •
At Fontenelle we exploded a mine under the enemy's works.

We occupied Gussainoil and the heigirts dominating the river Qrne, Further south we progressed' in the direction of-Maigery. In the woods at Ailly and Brtrile our gains were maintained. Fresh trenches were captured. Further progress was made in the wood at La Pretre. Prisoners state that in recent attacks six battalions of Germans were destroyed.
