POURPARLERS RENEWED.
ALLEGED AGREEMENT WITH SERBIA IN THE ADRIATIC.
DECISIVE STEP TOWARDS INTERVENTION.
Unitbb PsEßa Association. (Received 9.30 a.m.) Rome, April 7. Sigilor Tittoni has arrived, for, it is believed, the purpose of renewing the pourparlers (peace negotiations) which were interrupted, and to permit Prince Bulow to formulate proposals. This is probable; because Italy and Serbia have reached an agreement, thanks to the Emperor Franz Joseph's intervention, whereby Italy will not oppose Serbia's outlet to the Adriatic on condition that it will not be fortified and that Istria and Trieste will be regarded as Italian. The agreement marks a decisive step in regard to Italian intervention. (Istria, crownland of the Cisleithan part of Austria-Hungary, comprising 1,913 square miles, with a population of 350,000, and including several islands in the Adriatic).
(Trieste is the principal seaport of Austria-Hungary, situate at the head of the Adriatic.)
