NEWTON KING’S REPORT. United Press Association. At Douglas on Holiday. 211th ulto., for my monthly sale, both sheep and cattle came iorward in excess of advertised numbers. Buyers were present from all parts of Taranaki, and prompted by a strong demand from: outside districts, made keen competi-, lion for all sheep offered, every pair being sold at the hammer at a sharp advance. Cattle wore selling at a slightly improved rate, a good portionj of the yarding being cleared. Prices obtained were as follows:—Weanerj steers tmostly small) Cl ‘is (id to Cl, 17s, weaner heifers 15s to Cl 2s, 20 month empty heifers C2 (is to C2 Pis, 20 month m calf heifers ,C2 15s to C 3, 20 month steers C 3 Ms to C 3 1< s. rough and small C2 18s (id. dairy cows C 7, imlls ,C I 15s to C i I Os. store cowS| ,C2 12s (id to Cl (according to si/.e and condiXion), forward cows from Coos Unfair framed cows, to ,C 7 10s tor heavy cows (nearly fat), lambs 11s 7d to 6s. 2 tooth ewes (a good line) 18s 7d, 2 tooth wethers (strong demand) 17s ml to l!)s id for tops, small 15s Bd, small mixed 2 tooths I Is (id, lat owes 18s Id to Cl Os 7d, mixed aged, wethers Ids i)d, | tooth wethers Ills and Cl. At SI ration.! on Tuesday. 30th ult f».. I had n lull yarding of both sheep and cattle, with a largo attendance of the public. The demand again for sheep was unsatisfied, all lines ollercd at tinsale being cleared at the hammer at prices very satisfactory to the vendors. Cattle were not so ready ol sale, but several classes met with good competition, A good number of weaner h'eiiers were yarded and sold, although prices were low, .vendors evidently having decided to accept these prices rather than hold.
