DEATH OF STODDART.
'suicide owing to financial difficulties. United Press Association. (Received 8.50 a.m.) London, April 5. The "Echo" reports that Stoddart, the famous cricketer, shot himself owing to financial difficulties. EVIDENCE AT THE INQUEST. WIFE'S SAD STORY. (Received 12.45 p.m.) London, April 5. At the inquest on Stoddart, his widow gave evidence thai he had resigned the secretaryship of the Queen's Club, owing to nervous breakdown, and had been without work since. He was very depressed owing to having lost his money through the war. Late on Saturday night he took a pistol from his pocket, and said he was goinjj; to finish it. His wife advi-ed him to consult his friends. After a slight strusfirle, she secured
the pistol, but returned it as it was not loaded, but she took away a box of cartridges. Later she found him dead in bed, and then discovered he bad another box of cartridges. A verdict of suicide was returned.
