ANNUAL REPORT
The following report was pro anted: Your committee have pleasure -in presenting its Annual Report and Balance-sheet lor the year 1914-1915, which, in spite of the inclement weather at the beginning 01 the season and the loss of members absent on military duties, has been a fairly successful one. The Club started the season with a small credit balance at the bank, and the season has been concluded with the surplus iu- ! creased by about £l2. The membership i s about the same as last season, | but as several active members have 'been put on the Honorary Membership List owing to' their absence from New Zealand and other causes, the receipts from subscriptions are about £ls less than last year. As the Club’s finances have been in a satisfactory position this season, your committee decided to expend a larger sum in wages in order to have the greens thoroughly attended to throughout the summer months. The greens in consequence will be in better order at the commencement of the coming season than they have been before. At the commencement of the season a ball-marker was placed in tdio pavilion, which it is hoped will be used by all members during the ensuing season. A nominal charge of fs is made against each member using the marker. A large supply of excellent iron-sand has been obtained from New Plymouth—in all five tons—which should last for two seasons with careful use. Two new greens have been laid down during the season to replace two old ones, so as to enlarge the links. The difficulty hitherto experienced of having all the greens cut in one day has been overcome by purchasing a large and up-to-date mower, which can be used by one man without difficulty. During the season, twentysix club competitions were played, which is a record- for the club. In addition to these, the club played two .matches against New Plymouth and Inglewood, both of which were won by Stratford. The return matches arranged with the New Plymouth and Inglewood Clubs had to he abandoned owing to the inclement weather. The Men’s Championship was won by Mr C. G. R. Wright and the Challenge Trophy for best Men’s Medal aggregate was annexed by Mr Vernon Crawshaw. Miss F. L. Orbell won the Ladies Championship and Miss O’Brien won the Ladies Medal Agfiregato. Your committee have been successful in arranging with the Racing Club for an extension for a further term of five years, at a slightly increased rental, of the playing rights' over the Stratford Racecourse. The previous lease expires cm the Ist of October of this year. Youx committee desire to thank all those ladies who on several occasions helped to entertain at the various club gatherings, and also the ladies and gentlemen who kindly donated trophies.
