TUNA SCHOOL PICNIC.

On Friday last the Tuna School held jits picnic arid sports. The weather jihronghont the day was all that could be. desired, .arid,a very large outslcit, attendance resulted. During* the, 4s/ a number of yoiirig ladies, collected funds for the Belgian Relief Fund by selling various small articles and; by holding guessing competitions, such as the number of beans in a jar and the name of a doll, the latter beipg afterwards auctioned by Mr G. Pugh. , A total of £3. was realised. Guessing .-tip weight oi a (fake competition brovight in a profit of £2 2s. - ; gome very fine finishes were witnessed in the ruririirig events, thanks to the haridicappers, Messrs Kirkby and Skedgwell. In the evening a large crowd attended. the concert, and an excellent entertainment was provided by the school Jhildren, the items being as follows : Iverture,Miss Kovaleski;, .song, ‘ ‘British, Every. One,” senior girls and bpya; song, “Two Eyes of, Grey,” Miss L. Plews; song, “Water Fairies,” junior girls ; song, “Lazy Bones,” sung by junior boys, and acted by E. Bloxham; song, “Three Maids of Lee,” Miss Plews, Miss A.; l|lilne,> and Miss fCovaleski; song, “I Never Heard of Anybody Dying from a Kiss—Did You?” girls and boys; song, “The Dusky Piqaninnies,” Miss Vickers and Master Kovaleski; song, “Nid Nod, Sleepy Head,’’sung and acted by junior girls_; cantata, “The,Birth of the Union Jack,” by the. school children. After the concert the chairman (Mr Hathaway) delivered a short speech, when a very hearty vote of thanks was accorded to. Miss Bramley, head teacher, Miss Law, assistant, and Miss Rogers, of Stratford, for the way in which the children were trained, and the decoration of the school room and arrangements, generally. The dance afterwards was kept up * until 2;30 a.m., under the management of Mr E. Jones, M.C., and Miss Andersen (musician). The total profits for the day were £l4 2s lOd. A special donation of £5 was given by Mr H. J. Kirkby, and the Tuna School children’s prize money of £3 10s was added, making a total for the Belgian Relief Fund 1 of £22 12s lOd.
