DISTRESSING FATALITY.

KILLED IN A LIFT. Per Press Association. Auckland, .March 2G. Margery Eveline Dewes, aged 24, a daughter of the late Mr A. E. Dews, whose mother resides at Parnell, Was killed instantly this morning. She was ascending the lift in Hobson Buildings, the lift being in charge of Edward Renner, aged 17. On reaching the second floor Miss Dewes was getting out, and had one foot on the lilt and the other foot on the lending, nil the lift suddenly dropped. She was pinned with her back against the floor, and some minutes elapsed before she was released. She was then •quite dead.
