WHANGAMOMONA COUNTY COUNCIL.
At the monthly meeting of the Whangamomona County Council held on Tuesday, there were present: Crs A. Meredith (chairman), M. Geever, W. jr. Cleland, T" R. Monnsey, and A. Coyne. It was resolved to pay H. Julian £2OO on account of the difference in railage between Smart Road and Tariki. The matter of the bridge to O’Connor’s section was left in the hands of Crs Coyne and Meredith to report at next meeting. Application is to be made to the Land Board to pledge the thirds from sections 2, 3 and 8, block 6, Mahoe, for the construction of bridges across the Whangamomona River to the sections, the thirds to be used in conjunction with the Government grant as a subsidy, which is to be applied for to the Land Board. Tlie Engineer was authorised to arrange with W. Hodge for carting metal ou the Kohuratabi Road, and also for labour.
A license for a l)illiarcl room at Kohuratahi was granted to A. Bush for the usual terms, the police report being considered satisfactory, In connection with the expenditure of thirds and engineering expenses on the Rimuputa Hoad.—lt was resolved on the motion of Crs Coyne and Meredith that work covering the total grant of £3OO be laid off, and tenders called as soon, as possible, and if the Land Board’s consent to the schedule of thirds for engineering expenses is not obtainable, settlers concerned to ihe requested to consent to the thirds being used for maintenance. Lease of the road deviation reserve on Knai Road, Huiakama, to O, L. Franks, was granted on the usual conditions, at a rental of os. The Engineer was authorised to extend the present contract to metal Bremer Road by W. Hodge to the change of grade 25 chains north of the Pahautuhia boundary. Accounts amounting to £661 were passed for payment. THE PUKITITUNA ROAD. A deputation from Pukitituna Road waited on the Council objecting to a filling and tunnel being put in in place of a bridge, and thus loosing the benefit of the bridge rate. Mr Wilson was authorised to employ two men for two weeks in cleaning up the Pukitituna, provided that lie himself puts in an equal time in working on the road. It was resolved that upon receipt of the ratepayers’ consent, the clerk make application to the State Advances Office for a £ISOO loan for the .road (against £ for £ subsidy) advising that only £SOO will be required this year.
