PERSONAL.

The members of the Hawera Fire Brigade, together with friends and visiting firemen, tendered Deputy. Superintendent J. Champion a complimentary dinner on Friday evening on the occasion of his having completed twenty-five years’ continuous service as a fireman. The Deputy-Superinten-dent was also presented with the United Fire Brigades Association’s gold star, one of the highest honors that can bo gained by a fireman in New Zealand. Miss Elsie Bollinger, recently on the teaching staff of the Stratford District High School, who was in Germany studying languages when the war broke out, is safe and well in Dresden.
