Uitti.-.iore, nee Gibson, of Gisborne. he sum of £(5000 as damages for aleged slander, was concluded at the iupre.ue Court at a late hour. It ap>eared that James Gibson bad made a levise of property worth £OOOO to the nlaintiff (Dr. Ildownie) which he subequeutiy revoked, ultimately devising >art of that property to Dr. Mclldowie's wife and children. The doctor al«ged that tho defendant had influence^ estator in changing his will, and had landered plaintiff by imputnig drunk>nness to him. Defendant absolutely denied the alegation. In the course of her examnatioi, defendant admitted that she <ept house for testator, and that during his life time he had made her presents of an amount totalling between 3ight and nine thousand pounds. She dleged that the change in testator's vill was brought about through his tearing of the plaintiff's domestic itionThe jury, by eleven to one, found for l.evendant. Judgment was therefore •itered for her, with costs £l3B 4s, ogether with disbursements and witlesses' expenses, to be fixed by- the Registrar
