THE BELGIAN APPEAL.

Mr C. J. Johnson, Consul for Belgium in New Zealand, forwards the following translation of a letter received by last Thursday's mail from His Excellency the Belgian Ambassador in London:— London, sth February 1915. Monsieur le Consul, — I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 17th December, "B," relating to the sending of monies collected by you on behalf of the Belgian Belief Fund. The amounts remitted by you up to the date of 17th December amount, as you stated, to a total of £12,080 sterling. lam gratified to take this opportunity of thanking you most warmly for your efforts and to congratulate you most sincerely on the magnificent results otained by you. To my great regret I am unable to personally thank the donors of these moneys, which no doubt, you have already done ; but I should be pleased by your finding some occasion to let the donors know how much these gifts have touched the Belgian people, and how grateful these latter are to the citizens of New Zealand for their numerous signs of sympathy and their great generosity.
