PRICE OF FOODSTUFFS.
[To The Editoe Stratford Post.] Sir, —In a recent issue of your paper an account of the proceedings of the Stratford Borough Council was reported, one part referred to a letter from the Runanga Borough Council, •asking our Council to join in a protest against the great increased price of foodstuffs, Cr Masters said "Oh they arc a lot of Socialists" and the other intelligent l Councillors swallowed it whole and the letter was received. Now all the large City, Borough and County Councils who have the interest of the workers at heart, commended their protest. What tor Stratford? Mr Massey bought wheat and sold it to the millers, and said at the price they should sell flour at £ll 10s, they have promptly jumped it £3 per ton", that is to £l7 10s. Does MiMasters' heart bleed for the workers, or does he think this a square deal. T commend to your readers Mr McHardy's letter to the press, when ho says that people who are exploiting the masses of the country in cornering the prices of foodstuffs ought to he hanged. And so say all of us! I am, etc. WOBKKtt.
