Second Edition. The Neutrals.

SWISS PEOPLE UNMASKED. Times and Sydney Sun Service. . (Received 8 a.m.) London, March IS. The Times’ Swiss _ correspondent says: At the commencement of the war, the Swiss were inclined to favor Germany. They speak a common language, have German blood in their veins, German clothes on their backs, German coal stoves, German proprietors for their shops, German professors at their Universities, German .knltu.r in their minds, while Germany supplied money and brains for the newspapers. When the Swiss saw Germany was not winning and would perhaps be defeated, a revulsion ,of feeling set ’in. Beginning with the recent deception by new;* of German origin and misrepresentation regarding the violation of Belgium, they learned the truth of the German'atrocities and the falsity of reports of Germany’s victories. They now realise that German competition is seriously threatening Swiss economic independence.”
