At the meeting of the sharebV lders of the Stratford Co-operative D&. u ' v Co., held in the Town Hall this mortving, about 2UO shareholders were present, and Mr R. Dingle was in the chair. It was decided on the voices that the Company continue makingbutter during next season. ■

It may be necessary in some places to give a reminder of the fact that to-morrow is St. Patrick's Day, b\it it is not so in Stratford, where the promoters of the grand Catholic social to be held in the Town Hall to-mor-row night are taking good care that all are so informed. An enjoyable time is promised, and this will be forthcoming us usual.

Mr Newton King has on view at his premises in Broadway some hue samples of Hurst's purple top mammoth, romney marsh, and Carton's hardy green glove turnips, the former being grown by Mr Bert Rowe, of Stratford, and tho latter by Mr R, J. Horn, of Cordon Road. These crops were manured with the special Sterling turnip fertiliser mixed by Mr King.

Favored with brilliant sunny weather, the croquet lawns at Victoria Park presented a very pleasing appearance this afternoon at the opening of the Grand Garden Fete in aid of the Belgian Relief Fund. Those who are in charge of the various games and competitions include Mesdames Moon, Dunlop and the Misses Papps, Tod-man,.-Mesdames Riera, Prentis, Cuttis, while Mesdames Curtis and Jolly havfl charge of the sweets stall. It is anticipated there will be a big gathering this evening, when tho Municipal Band will be in attendance. Iu addition to other attractions, a bowls competition will be played. The lawns are in excellent condition, and those who attend should have a pleasant evening. Refreshments are provided on the ground.

Spirited march music enlivened Broadway last evening, the Salvation Army Brass Band, of Eltham, being on a visit to Stratford to help the local corps in its harvest festival celebrations. After playing several stirring marches opposite the Post Office, tho visitors marched to the strains of the band to the Army Hall, where the band members rendered a very interesting programme, comprised of vocal and instrumental items, besides a humorous reading of how "Moses Counted the Eggs!" At the conclusion of the programme, Adjutant Cook expressed thanks to the band and officers for their kindly visit,'and announced that to-night (Tuesday) would conclude the festival gathering, with a programme to be rendered by sympathisers of the Army. The chair will be taken by-Mr J. W. Boon, and at the close of the meeting an auction sale will be conducted by Mr Lamasou. Adjutant Cook also stated that'-the""gifts of'goo'ds by various shopkeepers more than favorably compared with anything received in any town where he had been stationed during a lengthy service as a Salvation Army officer. No shoddy goods, but really good gifts had been given. A quantity of goods ■ were, afterwards sold.
