DEATH OF AN ILLEGITIMATE

At the Court to-day Walter Charles Hooper was charged with on January 5, making false statements concerning the death of an illegitimate Child. The police said the accused and his wife took the child and received £3O. It was alleged accused wilfully evaded the law, The child had since died.
> The Registrar said there was a discrepancy, between the, entry .regarding the child's birth and its death. Accused reserved his defence and was committed for trial.
On a further charge of having in 'consideration of a payment of £3O retained the infant without being licen-sed,-Hooper and his wife were convicted and ordered to be sentenced after the Supreme Court case had been disposed of.
