GIGANTIC STRUGGLE PENDING
CONCENTRATION OF HALF A MILLION ON BOTH SIDES.

GUNS WITHOUT GUNNERS.
(Received 8.30 a.m.) Petrograd, March 12
A communique states; The Germans in the Pilitza region brought up new troops and advanced with their guns to the open in front of our trenches. The gunners were killed, and neither side was able to remove the guns.
MISCELLANEOUS Petrograd, March 12. Official. —An obstinate battle continued at Simno, in the valleys of the rivers Omuleff and Orjitez, in the Erection of Przasnysz.
' Austrian units at Gorlitza were annihilated.
The Germans are concentrating half a million men with tITe view of retaking Przasnysz.
General Oba, representing the Japanese army on the stffff of the Russian Commander-in-Chief, in an interview said he was convinced that the German efforts passed the culminating point in Hindenberg’s operations on the Warta in December. Since then they had been on the wane, though they had partial successes. The enemy was being swept away, and he expected peace within six months.
