WRECK OF THREE LUGGERS.

Three luggers with, crews totalling fifteen are missing after the Cyclone at Bathurst and Melville Islands on the Bth, : and it is believed the luggers wore wrecked.
A CASE FOR A JURY.
(Received 10.40 a.m.) Melbourne, March 12
Judge Murray recently' sentenced a certain person named Bernasconi, to. a year's imprisonment at Port Moresby for hanging a Native .boy to a rafter in a store as punishment. Bernasconi demanded to be heard ,by a jury, and Judge Murray stated ;a case. The opinion of the high, court, .which was presided over by, Sir William Irvine, supported the appeal, contending that under Federal law Bernasconi was entitled to a jufy,v:£nd therefore >-i was illegally convicted.... -

The Workers' Association deputations Mr Black (Minister of Agriculture)* with regard to the low prices -ol the rabbit industry, and suggested that the Government control the establishment of freezing works, that poisoning be. abolished, and that it be maaV illegal to destroy useful, ; food. Mr Black stated that the objection to State meat freezing was applicable to rabbits, as drought conditions interfere with the supplies.
COLLIERS' AFTERNOON SHIFT.
(Received 9.15 a.m.) Sydney, March 12
The delegates of the Colliery Employees Association' unanimously decided to recommend the acceptance of the proprietors proposals in connection with the afternoon shift. It is anticipated that the lodge will accept, and that work will be resumed on Monday.
PRICE OF WHEAT AND FLOUR.
Melbourne, March 12. A conference of flour mill owners with a sub-committee of the Cabinet arrived at an agreement by which imported wheat is to be sold at 7s 8d per bushel, provided that flour is sold at £l6 ;pr ton, to prevent bread exceeding 9d- the 41b loaf. The cost to the Ministry is 8s 2d. To land American wheat would ihrolve a loss of 6d per bushel. '• '
