STRATFORD HOSPITAL BOARD.

At the monthly meeting of the Stratford Hospital and Charitable Aid Board this morning there were present: Messrs J. McAllister (chairman), C. D. Sole, Hine, Walter J. J. Smith, Christoffel.

The Noxious Weeds Inspector wrote re blackberries to be cleared from roads adjoining hospital property.— The work has been done.

REPORTS, The Medical Superintendent reported : During the month of January twenty-one patients were admitted, twenty were discharged, and one died. Thirteen remained in hospital at the end of the month. Nine operations were performed under anaesthetics. There are no patients in isolation ward. —Adopted. The gardener reported: Everything looks well, and vegetables are plentiful.—Adopted. The Sanitary Inspector reported:— One case of typhoid fever was. notified in Stratford County. The patient was removed to hospital, where death took place, and the premises were disinfected. One case of septicaemia was removed to hospital' from-' momona County. Stratford Borough: One old unoccupied stable was reported on. Acting under instructions from the District Health Officer stocks of Allenbury’s Milk Food was inspected at the grocers’ and chemists’ shops. In one case samples of old stock was forwarded to the Dominion Analyst for analysis. The butchers’ shops, fish shops/ fruit shops, and marts were inspected. Four cases of pears were condemned and caused to be destroyed. One fowl run and houses were inspected, but no nuisance was found to exist.—Adapted. Mr J. Smith mentioned the long hours worked by the wardsman, and , the fapt that he did not have a halfholiday. Mr Smith suggested an increase in the salary.—Mr C. D. Sole moved* and Mr Hine seconded, . that the matter be referred to the Medical Superintendent. —Carried.
