LAWN TENNIS. VICTORIAN CHAMP!ONSHIPS. Melbourne, March G. In the Victorian Association's tennis championship tournament. Dr. O'Hara Wood won the singles, beating Parker. With his- brother, he won the doubles, beating Heath and Lycett. Wiih Miss Waxman he won the mixed doubles, beating Heath and Mrs Sanderson. Miss Stewart won the ladies' singles.
AUCKLAND v. TARAXAKI. The following players have been selected to represent Auckland in the inter-provincial match between Auckland and Taranaki, which takes place at Auckland, probably on March 17th: Men: K. Duthie. H. Goldsmith, W. Andreas, H. Snelling, W. A. Brown, and E. Hickson. Ladies: Misses Gray, G. Gorrie, Mrs Cooper, Miss M. Steele, Mrs Scott Watson, and Miss M. MacCormick. . /
SWIMMING. DUKE KAHANAMOKU. Per Press Association. "Wellington, March 7. Duke Kahanamoku and George Cunha, with Edwards (their manager), arrived in Wellington yesterday morning, and were accorded an informal civic reception by the Mayor. They appeared at the Carnival in the afternoon, when there was a large attendance. Kahanamoku was not in his best form, having found the continuous travelling a strain, while the water in the baths yesterday was the coldest he had experienced in the Dominion. He appeared in the 50 yards and 100 yards handicaps, and won'the latter from scratch in 57 l-ssec, with Cunha'(2 sec) second. The 50 yards race was I won by F. Roberts, who was given 6 sec, with Kahanamoku (scratch), second, and Cnnha (lsec), third. A fraction of a second separated the three men. Time, 29 3-ssec.
In the evening the Wellington Swimming Centre entertained the visitors at dinner. They leave for Auckland to-night.
