ME NCREASED FOOD PRICES. j Pan Press Association. Wellington, March 5. The triennial conference of the , iiuip;ainated Society of Railway Ser. ■uts was concluded to.day, and the ■wly-elected executive council has umnenced its sittings, at the end of deli the Minister of Railways and ie General Manager will he interlowed in a large number of subjects scussed at the conference. The new xecutive was elected by ballot of the Difference delegates as follows: Messrs R. Hampton (Addington), 11. loore (Petoue), representing the Workshops Branch of tlie Department; V. Whisker (Taumarnnui) and D. iVilsou (Christchurch), Loco. Braich; P. Barry (Auckland) and F. Gaines (Balclutha)Traffic; and 1. Saunders (Dunedin) and L. Geraghty 'Auckland), Maintenance Branch. It was unanimously resolved to form'd the following motion to the ■ime Minister and Press: “That
is large and representative conferice of railway men views with alarm lie rapid increase in the prices of ■onijnodities, and we view with regret he apparent disinclinatiion to graphs effectually with those who are •xploiting the people in a time of national crisis; and that the Govern■icnt be urged to take imemdiate and •Tectivo steps to remedy the proseiu tate of affairs.”
