"THE JAM OF CATHAY." Tho high opinion which Messrs Stephenson and Lin ley obtained with theii production of "Humpty Dumpty” was sustained last night, when “The Jam of Cathay" was staged by the same company. The principals were in fin. voice, and the corps de ballet and chorus did excellent work. Tho plot was a featherweight, the outstanding point being that everyone seemed to be in a pickle, but got out of it) before “lights out.” It would probably bo somewhat invidious to earmark any o the characters in such a well-balance company as particularly good, but Liu audience showed a great predelictioi for the fooleries of Lennon,Hyman ami Lennon in their acrobatic turn, Mr Con Moreni (as Frascati), and Ernie Lashbrook (Hon. Bobbi Atkins). Miss Elsie Nicolas was charming as Marie, and made a great hit in her singing of "Lotus Land,” and “Give me Love." Miss Ida Ingersole as Alphonze, was enthusiastically encored for her sing ing of “Britannia’s School,” being twice recalled. The part of The Jan. was well filled by Mr Charles Howard whose fine voice was heard to perfection in “King of Love,” and in a duet with Miss Olive Robinson (Marina lade).
