THE BELGIAN APPEAL
VICTORIA’S GENEROSITY. United Press Association. (Received 1.35 a.m.) London, March 5. Mr Mcßride has handed the Belgian Minister £20,000 from the Lord Mayor of Melbourne’s Fund. The Minister thanked the Victorians for their generosity.
THE NEW SCHEME IN NEW SOUTH WALES. (Received 9.40 a.m.) Sydney, March 6. The new Belgian Committee is busy, and already over £SOOO lias been subscribed. Other States are organising.

The Governor has received acknowledgment of various contributions which have been forwarded to London in connection with the British and Belgian Relief Fund. Up to the present, the sum of £37.,357 has been transmitted for Belgian relief, and £28,642 for the Poor of Britain and Ireland.
The Belgian writes: “I shall be obliged if you will kindly convey to the Governor and to all kind donators my most grateful thanks for their continued help, which is so deeply appreciated by my suffering countrymen, and will ever be remembered by them.”
The treasurer to the Prince of Wales’ Fund writes : “His Royal Highness was extremely gratified at receiving this splendid addition to the fund, and he wished me to write you a special letter, asking you to make known to the subscribers how warmly his Royal Highness appreciates the generous support which he lias received from New Zealand.” ‘
