The Hon. Mr Allen (Minister for Defence) informs the •secretary of the; Otago Patriotic rand General Welfare Association that ij since t receiving the reply from General Godley saying, that no gifts had been sold at the canteens, several specific cases had been brought under his notice, arid, he had again cabled,.mentioning alleged definite instances of sales of gifts,' and asking General, Godley for- a report, Mr Allen said he was going into the matter fully, but it might not be possible to get the* exact facts without waiting for 1 the mails.
