L. P. Cave was top scorer with 61, scored in a patient innings, and Holland and Hussey hit freely for 46 and 39 ro-<p?/.-t ively. Heskett and Clarke were the (best of the visiting howlers, but the fast trundler was not suited by the 'true wicket. The fielding on the .> hole was smart and alert. Taranaki gave a poor display with the hat. None of the* visitors was at home to Holland, who bowled unchanged. At one stage Taranaki had six wickets down for 32 runs, and but for an easy catch being dropped by Hussey seven wickets would have been down for the same number. Gwillim and Osborne were the only batsmen to reach double figures. The latter played a good innings, and was caught out by trying to force the pace when the last man arrived. Taranaki followed on, and had lost! two wickets for 42 when slumps wore drawn. Scores: — WANGANUI.
