SWIMMING.
LOCAL EVENING CARNIVAL. The Carnival held last night in the School ( Baths by the Stratford Amateur Swimming Club proved a great success. A large audience watched the numerous items with interest. The close finishes in many of the heats says a great deal for the handicappers, Messrs P. Skoglund and N. Teihpler. The various items were carried through without any hitch. The Municipal Band played several selections prior to the opening of the Carnival, and during the evening the Egmont Orchestra added greatly to the enjoyment of the evening by rendering a programme of music, ft was announced early in the evening that the Hayvora contingent was unable to be present, owing to the motor-car having broken down, but later on they arrived, and received a great ovation. They were, however, too late to participate ill tRe 50 yards open handicap. The following are the results: -
