There are IG-50 names on the Stratford Borough Electoral Main Roll which closed at 5 p.m. on Monday, as compared with 1519 names on the main roll last year. A good number of names are not yet on the roll, and electors have an opportunity to fie included in the Supplementary Roll, which closes early in April.

Arrangements have been completed for the Evening Swimming Carnival to be held to-night at the School Baths. at 7.-15 o'clock. As the net proceeds are to be handed over to the Belgian Belief Fund, a large crowd of spect-

tors is. expected. A large number of entries have been received, and as the New Plymouth, inglewood, Gonvilta (Wanganui), and Hawera Clubs will be well represented, keen competition can be looked for. The Egmont Club Orchestra and the Stratford .Municipal Brass Hand have kindly consented to supply musical items, and altogether there should be an enjoyable evening's entertainment.

1 At an enthusiastic meeting in Wellington of Otago High School Old Boys, it was decided to form a unit of the National Reserve.

The Court list for to-morrow (Friday) is as follows: Fifteen civil cases, five judgment summonses, and one charge of theft from a till.

The High School Cadets (under the command of Lieutenant Buchler) will undertake a route march to the Stratford Mountain House on March 12th, the boys will march up on Friday evening, returning on Saturday. The trip will also be the occasion of a lesson in nature study.

The Stratford District Hospital Board finds it necessary to restrict visitors to the Hospital to Thursday and Sunday afternoons. In special circumstances, admission may be obtained on other days by special permit from the Medical Superintendent, or a, member of the Board.

The following team will represent the local school in a cricket match against Tariki, at Tariki, to-morrow: R, McDonald (capt.), J. Cresswell, H. Mail, A. Tattoo, B. Young, E. R. Coutts. C. H. Many visitors from a large district will be attracted to the annual gathering of the Whanga-Kohuratahi Sports Club, to be held at Whangamomonal on Friday, 26th February. There is a large and varied programme, and the wood-chopping contests alone should draw a big crowd. Not only are competitions provided for men. but the committee is catering for all classes have also provided races for both single and married women. Much interest will lie centered in the Tug-of-War, while the races for children and the sideshows on the ground should create amusement for all. Everyone is sure of a good day's enjoyment, and the Grand Ball in the evening should attract a large company. In connection with the admission to the evening's function, we have been asked to state that the price of admission is 3s, not 5s as notified. Backed up by a. good working Committee, the Whanga Sports is certain to be a thorough success, towards which Mr Alex. Klee, the energetic honorary secretary, is doing much to make this year's sports eclipse all previous efforts. Visitors from this end will be able to have a full day at Whanga without breaking into another day, which will be move convenient than in previous years.
