THE MASTERTON SHOW.
Per Press Association. Mastcrton, February U 5. The twenty-eighth annual show of the Mastcrton A. and P. Association opened to-day in line weather, and with a large attendance. The show of fat stock was pronounced to be one of the finest ever seen in the Dominion. The Championship Wheeler Shield, competed for under the auspices of the ionuiey Marsh Breeders’ Association, was won by W. Perry, with W. Raynor winning Mr Ferry’s silver medal. There was keen competition in this class. Other championships were as follows ; Shropshircs.—H. D. Vavasour, ram and ewe. Lincolns.—Ram. 1). McDonald; ewe,
H. V. Gaisford. English Leicestcrs.—Ham and ewe, S. H. Lancaster. Border Leicester.—Ham and owe, Mr J. A. Welsh. Homney Marsh.—Ham, Walter Horry 1 ; ewe, G. E. Allen. Southdowns.—Ham and ewe. Ferine and Hich’mond. Shorthorn.—Cow and bull. W. Howard Booth. Hereford.—Cow and bull, E. Short. Jersey Heifer.—S. H. Lancaster. Holstein Freisian.—Cow and bull, W, 1. Lovelock. Fat Cattle.—Bullock and cow, Sir Walter Buchanan. The Maiden Jumping was won by W. H. Gaisford, the Leaping Competition by r H. Hassall’s Micky Free with J. Bryce’s Twilight second, and E, Short’s Scout, third.
