HEALTH REPORT FROM SAMOA,
Per Press Association. Wellington, February 15
The following wireless message, dated 13th, has been received from Colonel Logan, respecting the health of the New Zealand Garrison in Samoa : The health of the troops is good. The following are in hospital:— sth (Wellington) Regiment.—Corpora! A. S. Crowther, hernia; Private W. Dixon, pneumonia; Private F. Martin, dengue fever; Lance-Corporal Hurrell, dengue fever; Private H. Stubbs, rheumatism.
3rd (Auckland) Regiment.—T. E. Pelk, fever; Private E. Mills, septic knee; Private R. J. Massicks, dengue fever; Private G. Griffiths, tonsilitis; Corporal Overson, injury to hip. Railway Engineers.—Sapper J. B. Elliott, dysentery; Sapper B. J. Flirty; varicose veins; Sapper J. T. Thom, son. diarrhoea.
New Zealand Corps.—Private W Brocklehank. jaundice. Signal Section.—Private J. W Pearce, dengue fever. All are doing well.
RAILWAY RESERVE CORPS,
Wellington, February 10,
Mr Hiley, general manager of the Railways, presided at a meeting at the railway offices. After the object of the National Reserve had been explained, it was decided to form a railway section of that organisation. Mr Hiley was elected president (ex officio), and the following excutiv committee was formed to further the movment; —Messrs Troup (Chairman!, Kelly. Guinness. Young 'representing the Railway Officers Institute), Mack (Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants), Wiles (New Zealand Engine-drivers’, Firemen and Cleaners’ Association), with Mr F. 31. Sherwood as hon secretary and treasurer. It was decided that, to commence with the district committees be formed at eighteen of the principal railway centres in the Dominion. Circulars and enrolment forms will be issued to the staff in the course of a few days. Many railwayman "have already given evidence of their intention to join the movement.
