The Cherniovsky’s (Leo, Jan, and Mischel), who are at present touring New Zealand, will visit Stratford on 20th March.
Mr F. S. Jackson, the cricketer (Unionist), was elected unopposed for Howenshire, replacing Colonel Broadley, deceased, states a London cablegram.
Dr. T. Bain Whitton, of Taihapo, has been selected by the combined committees of the Friendly Societies for the various inglewood lodges. The Record states that Dr. Whitton acted as locum tenens for Dr. Nutting some years ago during his temporary absence.
The Japanese Trade Delegation at present visiting Australia has been divided into sections to cbver various States. Mr Thos. Young, Consul for New Zealand, received cable advice today that the section to visit New Zealand arrives in Wellington about March 27th, and will consist of Ur. Minra, the newly-appointed’ Trade Commissioner for Japan in Australia, and Mr Matsumara, a prominent business man of Tokio.
