A movement is afoot in Labor ranks to restore the Sydney Government House, shorn of a portion of its grounds, as a residence for the Governor, and to ei'ect a suite of special apartments alongside for the use of the Governor-General when visiting Sydney. THE PAPAL DELEGATE. Sydney, February 9. The Papal delegate explains that his object is the creation of a new Apostolic Delegation, extending over Australia and Xew Zealand. It is not set up as a new ecclesiastical authority, but to bring Australasian Catholics into closer touch with the supreme authority of the Holy See. He has come' to work with the Bishop. Amongst advantages of the delegation will be that diocesan and parochial affairs and controversies will be ■settled locally instead of going to Rome. Archbishop Ceratti will, reside permanently in Sydney, paying periodical visits to other parts of Australasia. He appoints the Rev. Dr. Ormond, of Auck-j land, his private secretary.
FARMER KILLED HIS WIFE.
Perth, February 9
John Eath, a farmer at Kojonup, surrendered to the police and confessed to having killed his wife in a domestic quarrel.
