THE EXPORT OF WOOL.
United Press Association. (Received 10.20 a.m.) Melbourne, February S. It is officially intimated that permits for the export of wool to America issued previous to 4th February, will be recognised and shipment allowed. The Lord Erne has been permitted to proceed.

The Californian Hoard of Agriculture will prohibit the importation of Australian fruit to compete at Panama owing to the presence of the Mediterranean fruit fly. It is believed embargo will be utilised to prevent competition with Californian fruit. 5000 TONS OF WHEAT. (Received 10.20 a.m.) Melbourne, February 8. The steamer Inveran has returned with 5000 tons of wheat shipped by the German steamer Uheinland, Anahalt, Fund, Hamburg, and Bremen, which refuged at Sumatra. MISCELLANEOUS. Melbourne, February 7. A Press correspondent charges the Federal Government with continuing to receive delivery of large quantities of German goods under contracts made prior to the war, and demands an inquiry and cessation. The statement of Federal receipts and expenditure shows that to the end of 1914 the expeditionary forces cost £537,828.
