ANNUAL MEETING. . The annual meeting of the Taranaki Rifle Association was held at New Plymouth last night, .when Colonel Okey presided o*er an attendance of about thirty, riflemen from various parts of Taranaki. The balance-sheet showed that with the inclusion pf £4l 7s lid credit balance from last-year,, the ' receipts had amounted to £240 7s 9d. Expenditure had ttinpuuted to £lO7 18s, the principal item being prize-money, etc., £l3O I4C

Guy (Kaponga) proposed that, all jnembers competing in the teams match must be members of a club affiliated to the Association, urging that it was not fair that some clubs should have to assist the Association, by payment of an affiliation fee whilst others could avoid paying the guinea fee. SeconjPJfty Kineman Carey (Patea). It was pointed out by Rifleman Jackson (Stratford) that unaffiliated members had to pay 2s 0d extra entrance fee. Many clubs entered in tin- tean»; match merely for the sake of making an entry,, but if they had to pay £2 2s for the sake of a possible or impossible chance of winning £5 tlicv would not enter.
. - Rifleman W!';/Slaughter (Suburbs) said the Association was behind the ti/ne.s in insisting on an affiliation fee. •Itwas the only Association in the Dominion thai -did so, and he moved as an ameudiu,ont that the affiliation fee should be done away with altogether. This was seconded by Rifleman T. Kino; (Ingtswood), and carried. more Targets.
Jackson (.Stratford) said that the markipg on the whole was splendid-, and the range officers had matters very ..creditably. The targets could hardly he improved.
