Per Press Association. Auckland, January 31. The summer meeting of the Takapuna Jockey Club was continued today in beautiful weather, when the remaining five events that were postponed on the previous day owing to rain were decided. There was a large attendance, and the sum of £23,078 was put through the totalisator for the five races, making the total for the eight races £32,354, against £28,745 for the first day of the summer meeting last year.

An enquiry was held concerning alleged interference with La Heina by Royal Irish in the Cup. After bearing evidence it was found that the probable cause, of the interference was due to Royal Irish coming in ratner quickly on Monorail, but taking into consideration the good record of McFlinn, the rider of Royal Irish, a se. vore caution would meet the case. Additional results are as follows:

NOTES. A Wellington sporting writer says: Sultana is still in a bad- way at Trentham, and may yet have to be des. troyed. His off hind tendon was cut clean through, and considerable difficulty is being experienced in getting it together again. The decision of the Takapuna Club to postpone its meeting until to-day and Wednesday next was probably a measure for safety, but it will be very inconvenient for some owners as several of the jockeys are committed to

engagements at H'awera and Gisborne next week, and will require to miss Wednesday’s racing. Pavlova, Kooya, Bertrada, Soldier, Austin, and Football were the defections from the Egmont Cup. This lea. ves ten accepto-s. and the list is headed bv Sea Pink, Bst 131 b. fhe Seaton Delaval horse will take bis place in the field, and will lie ridden bv U. Berry.
