PERSONAL.
Mr R. McK. Morison, of Stratford, has been elected a vice-president of the New Zealand Association of Nurserymen. Mr W. H. Hawkins, of Tataraimaka, who contested the Stratford seat at the late general elections, has volunteered for active service with the New Zealand expeditionary forces at the front. Mr Hawkins was formerly an officer in the volunteer force. Mr and Mrs P. Coffey, of Oriental Bay, "Wellington, celebrated their golden wedding on Tuesday. They were married on January 19th, 1865, by the Rev. W. Kirk, at the home of Mrs Coffey's father, Mr Thomas Newman, Spring Creek, Waimea, South Nelson.
•Mr H. D. Bedford, solicitor, and lecturer on Economics at the Otago University, has received notification of his election to a Fellowship of the Royal Economic Society of Groat Britain, being one of nine Fellows admitted at the meeting of the society held in November. Mr Bedford has devoted a great deal of time to the study of political economy, and the distinction conferred upon him is well deserved, remarks the Otago Daily Times.
