ANNUAL REPORT. Tlie animal report of the Stratford Chamber of Commerce to be presented at the annua! meeting of menisci's to-morrow evening is as follows: "Owing to the w*ar the operations of the Chamber have been suspended during the past few months, but since nir last general meeting many matters of importance have engaged the earnest attention of your committee. The financial position of the Chamber continues satisfactory, and although .1 sum of £lO was contributed to the Patriotic Fund, a cash balance of £9 3s 9d remains. "The Kaitieko Block has all been elected and is now being felled and grassed. The settlement of this area lias long been urged. "In conjunction 'with other bodies representations were made by deputations to the Government urging a sufficient grant to form and metal Pembroke Road west in order to improve access to -Mount Egmont. A grant of £250 was made, but a further sum of £230 will be necessary to complete the work to the radius line! The bush area on the Eastern side of the Whangamomona Saddle has been gazetted a scenic reserve. For assistance in tins the Chamber is indebted to Mr, H. G. Ell, M.P., lion, organising sec-| rotary of the New Zealand Forest and; I Bird Protection Society. i

"During the past three and a-half years the Chamber has consistently and energetically pressed for the fulfilment of all projects which were founded in the welfare of the town and district.

"The annual meeting will be held .it the Fire Brigade Hall on Thursday, 21st, at 8 p.m. Full reference to the operations of the past year will then be made. Members are urged to attend to elect new officers for the coming year. New blood and new ideas are always welcome. All requests and communications made to Mr J. B. Hine, M.P., by the Chamber have met every courtesy and attention and our best thanks are due to him. "J. H. RICHARDS, "President." The balance-sheet shows receipts for year £27 Os lid, including balance

brought forward £l6 10s lid, and expenditure £l7 17s 2d, leaving a credit balance of £9 3s 9d. The sum of £lO was contributed to the War Fund.
