MR ALLEN CIVES FIGURES. I'kr Press Association. Wellington, January 20. In the course of an interview on the subject of finance for the period, nine months ending December 31st, the Hon. James Allen states that fihe revenue amounted to £8,545,826 m£231,520 more than the revenuo, for the first nine months of last year, The expenditure out of the consolidated fund was £8,996,368, an increase of £606,611 on the similar period of last year. This, however, he thought would include the bulk of the increases for the full year, as he did not anticipate any increased expenditure for the remaining three months. Public Works expenditure was just £7508 in excess of the first nine months of the previous year, which showed that public works were being kept going, the expenditure on public works for tho nine months being £1,620,745. "Do you expect to declare a surplus?" Mr Allen was asked, and he replied: "Ask me something easv!"
