In addition to Hie loss already announced, the following settlers arc reported to have had residences and outbuildings destroyed: Messrs Franklin Bros, and Messrs Murray. Pomjcaroa; Messrs Gardiner and Yeoman, Wainiiro. two bouses and a mill; Mr Willcox, Wuimiro, store, house, and 1 smithy; Messrs A. W. J. Davidson; and Small. Weber, houses destroyed A DOCTOR'S NARROW ESCAPE. ! . STUNNED BY A FALLING TREE j AND CAR DESTROYED. D.muevirke, January 19. ! Dr. Wilkins, of Akitio, who recently commenced practice in that district. ' had a narrow escape of losing his life. He was'summoned to. attend an injured boy, named Coe, P.t Kakaunai, and had to pierce the fire-infested area A burning tree caught his motor car, ! and the doctor was overcome. He ; was unconscious when found, and remained so all night, but is now quite recovered.
