Applications' for the Indian Army reserve from officers for service with the Indian regiments continue to be received in large numbers. Recruiting for the Indian Army continues ini a remarkable manner. The appetites of the fighting races have been whetted by the stories of the Indian successes. The Indian wounded who have returned speak enthusiastically of the kindness and attention shown them in Europe, and the volunteering movement has received a big fillip.
THE FINANCIAL ASPECT. GOVERNMENT ACTION. (Received 12.45 p.m.) London, January 18. Owing to the ncessity of husbanding the financial resources of the country in view of the successful prosecution of the war, the Treasury has decided in connection with the opening of the Stock Exchange that freOi issues of capital must be submitted for the Treasurer’s approval.
