Jho death of Mr Day, ex-Insur e torGeneral of Police, is recorded from Sydney.

Mrs Carley, the wife of Mr C. Carley, a esteemed resident of Cardiff, died at the Stratford Hospital to-day. Mrs Carley had been in indifferent health for some time past.

The friends of Mr Joseph Halo will fearn with much regret of the death of Mrs Hale, which occurred somewhat suddenly on Saturday night. A family of eight young children is left to mourn the loss of their mother.

Mr R. Masters, chairman of the Electrical Supply Company, has accepted the invitation of the Feilding Borough Council to attend the opening of the municipal electric lighting system in Feilding on Saturday next.

All - F. W. B. Greville, editor of the Dairyman, who has been away from New Zealand since April last, returned by the Ilemuera. During his absence, Mr Greville travelled . all through the Unitd Kingdom and on the Continent, having visited Den-

mark, Sweden. Holland, France and Germany, only leaving the last-named country two or three days before the war was declared. Mr Greville was in Paris when England actually declared war with Germany.

Friends will bo interested to learn that the Rev. E. L. Harvie, who for nearly two years has been associated with the Church of Holy Trinity, Stratford, has been appointed Assistant Curate to the Vicar of Hamilton, with charge of the church at Frankton. The Rev. Mr Harvie leaves for the Waikato on February 3rd. It is not yet known who will take Mr Harvie’s place at Stratford as assistant to the Rev. C. Howard, Vicar.
