RIFLE SHOOTING.
The annual meeting of No. 8 Group Rifle Association was neld on the Waiuakailio range, .New Plymouth, on liiursoay. lue weather was good, and altliougu a strong wind was blowing, it was steady and enabled tne sliootist ulien on one target to keep there. In the Ist match .Grouping lUU yards, possible 50), Rifleman i\ Marrett put all his shots in a 3-inch ring, and Cadet Lucena, New Plymouth, succeeded in placing Jus hits in a ring. Six cadets managed to get the- possible in this match, but no Territorial was succeeslul. The successful Stratford shootists were: Rifle Clubs: No. 1 match (grouping 100 yards, secondclass figure targets, pos. 25), T. E. Townley and Pres. Brocklebank 20 (Is (id each). No. 3 match (snap shooting. 200 yards, live rounds, head and shoulder figure, Osee exposure, possible 15), Pes. Brocklebank 12 (3s). No. 4 match (application, 500 yards), Pilm. Townley 21 (15s), Pres. Brocklebank 19 (Ts 6d). No. 5 match (championship, 000 yards, possible 28), Pres. Brocklebank 19 (15s). Territorials: Col.-Sergeant J. Voyle was the only Stratford representative. He made 20 out of 25 in the grouping match (ss), was first in the Territorials in#the 2nd match (application 200 yards), scoring IS out of 20 possible (£1); was in the same position in the 3rd match (snap-shoot-ing) gaining the posisble 15 (£1); put on 12 in the 4th match (application, 500 yards) (ss). He went down in the championship, however, putting on 10 out of possible 28 (7s 6d), and in the extra match (five shots at GOO, figure target) made 9 points (ss). Cadets: In t£e grouping, W. J. Hayward and Sergt. W. L. Robinson made 20 out of 25 possible (2s). Hayward won the Cadet section in the 2nd match, hitting 19 out of 20 (£1). Tn the 3rd match he made 9 (2s 6d), in the "'4th 21 (7s 6d), and in the championship was 4th, putting on 20 out of the 28 (ss).
