(Received 8.0 a.m.) f w M m * h January : 15. * British military authorities consider that attacks on Egypt, if made at all, cannot long be deferred. The Germans are likely to bring a large force against Egypt, though the Turks are expected to make a good fight. The Arabs and Syrians forming a large proportion of the army have not got their heart in the business: they are more anxious to expel the Turk from Syria than to instal them in Egypt.
i (Tiflis is the capital of the government of the same name in Transcaucasia. It is on the river Kur, and is on the main route between Russia and Persia. Population 185,000.)
