VEHEMENCE OF VON KLUCK. ASSISTED BY REINFORCEMENTS. [United Press Association.] (Received noon.) Paris, January 14. The attack northeast of Soissons was of considerable magnitude. Apparently the recent French attacks menaced the railway junction at Ani/.y and Le Cateau, and General Von Kluck successfully appealed for strong reinforcements, and was enabled to press the counter attack vehemently. GENERAL VON KLUCK IN COMMAND AT SOISSONS. (Received 8.50 a.m.) Paris, January 14. General Yon Kluck is commanding in the neighbourhood of Soissons.
FRENCH PROGRESS REPORT. FLOODS AFFECT THE ALLIES' COMMUNICATIONS. ESTABLISHED SOUTH OF THE RIVER, (Received 8.50 a.m.) Paris, January yl4. A communique states: Mist hampered the operations of the artillery in Belgium. Violent cannonade occurred around Nieuport and Yyres. Belgians blew up an ammunition depot at Stuyvenskerki. Artillery effectively bombarded the enemy near Lens. Heavy fighting has occurred north of Soissons.
We have progressed slightly northwest of Crony and maintained our positions there despite fierce attacks, but we were forced to giVe ground before Vregny. Floods in the Aisne carried away several bridges, endangering our communications, and we, therefore, established positions south of the river between Crony and Missy. We blew up German saphoads north of Beausejour,
