STRATFORD HOSPITAL BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The Stratford Hospital and Charitable Aid Board met yesterday, when there were present:—Messrs J. McAllister (chairman), A. Meredith, C. 1). Sole, E. Walter and R. McK. Monson. reports. The Medical Superintendent reportpel; I hep; to report that during the month of December sixteen patients were admitted, thirteen were discharged, and sixteen remained at the end of the month. Four operations were performed under anaesthetic. One patient was admitted to the isolation ward Thanks are due to Rev. Howard and Rev. Harvie, who conducted service on Christmas Day in the wards, to MMcAllister and those who, with him. tendered the patients a very pleasant concert on Christmas night, to Lodge Stratford, for Christmas gifts; to “anonymous” for gift of cheev.e; and to all those others who in various ways helped to make the holiday season as happy as possible for our pa ients. ■

I suggest that she he promoted to staft’ nurse.—lt was reso.vrd that Nurse Healy he engaged as staff nurse, on her having passed the examination 'for registration. Sanitary Inspector’s report for flu mouth ended 9th January Infectious diseases: Two cases of septicae., ia weu notified in Stratford Borough. One of the patients died, and the other remov. ed to the hospital. Disinfection and cleansing of rooms was canned out ;u both cases. Two cases of scarlet fever were removed to hospital from Stratford County, and premises disinfected. Two cases of scarlet fever were uoutied in Whangamomona. Both cases were isolated at home and precautionary measures are being taken against spread of disease. One room was disinfected and cleansed in Stratford Borough, after remove! of pthesis patient.
General.—Stratford Borough : Three fish-shops and one ice-cream maker’s premises were inspected in Stratford Borough. One offensive accumulation was removed. Whangamomona County : Acting under instructions from the District Health Officer, a report was written to him re suggested by-laws for Whanga township. CORRESPONDENCE. The District Health Officer wrote re elections to the Board.—lt was approved by the Board that Mr J. Smith and Mr J. Christoffel be appoi ted to the Board, in place of the retiring members. The District Health Officer wrote stating that Inspector Wilson had resigned his position as officer, ai d suggesting that the Stratford, Hawera and Patea Hospital Boards con. bine to pay Inspector Gray’s salary and travelling expenses on the valuation basis. The Stratford Board’s share a mild be £7b.—The Chairman was au horiseu to extend the district of the hospital inspector by the inclusion of Patea. The Controller and Auditor Genera, wrote regarding members of ihe Board claiming payment for the hire < f their own conveyances, and calling upon the Board to obtain a refund w't. in 21 days of ail amounts expended cn members’ trap hire, failing which, it would be his duty to issue surcharges under the Public Revenues’ Act.—The secretary was to write to the In pec torGeneral of Hospitals asking that step, be taken to amend the Act by the omission of the words “and actually paid” from clause 32, dealing v, ith the refund to members of their travelling expenses.
Brigadier Bray, of Salvation Army Headquarters, Wellington, wn to that he was sending a child to the Army's Home at Island Bay, on the co dition that the Board would contribute a certain amount to the child’s keep.—The Board replied guaranteeing the maintenance of the child and thanking the Brigadier for his offer.
