I Fa rid Bey, leader of \he Egyptian Nationalists, visited Vienna and conferred with the ex-Khedive and the German and Turkish Ambassadors. He then proceeded to Berlin, his object being to persuade the ex-Khedive to command the Turkish troops. The ex-Khedive gave his consent. TURKS IN TRANS-CAUCASIA. liv-t and Bydney Sun SsBViOM. The Russian authorities hold that the Turkish operations Tn Trans-Cau-casia are not only making a daring attempt to regain Kars, but apparently a concerted plan for rousing up the Mussulmen in the Caucasus, which is unlikely to succeed, though it must be recognised that the Turks, under German leadership, are displaying exceptional qualities.
