FINANCIAL POSITION FOR 1915. LIERAL AID FROM~THE BANKS. [United Feess Association.] (Received 8.55 a.m.) ~., Delhij January 5. The Government, after a conference with the banking representatives of the various provinces, considered the situation and issued'a statement recommending that advice be immediately given to cultivators to* curtail cultivation considerably in 1915. As regards financial remedies, they reject all proposals for Governmelhi; intervention to support a minimum price, but with a view to encouraging a revival of trade they announce that the presidency banks will be prepared to take tip a liberal attitude in making partial re-advauees, the Government in their turn being prepared to make loans to the presidency banks to a moderate extent, such loanf to be for the sasistance of trade generally and not for cotton only. The funds required will be obtained, by temporarily increasing the fiduciary portion of the note reserve.
