RETIREMENT OR AUSTRIAN CENERALS. United Press Association. London, January 5. Vienna announces the retirement of two Generals, allegedly owing to illhealth. Other retirements from high commands are expected as a result of the rout in Servia. FRENCH PROGRESS REPORT. (Received 9.40 a.m.) Paris, January 5. Our progress between Thann and Cemaywas maintained to a point a kilometer east of Old Thann.
GENERAL London,January 5. Yard by yard the Germans are being forced towards the Dutch frontier. A large force of German marines is constructing defence works two and a half miles from the frontier. Fifteen houses at Heyst were demolished to clear the way for guns commanding Zeebrugge. . Times and Sydney Sun Services. London, January 5. Le Temps, says that on Boxing Day General Von Bissing delivered a long harangue to the Germans, urging them to capture Ypres at all costs, in order to offer it to the Kaiser for a New Year's' gift.
