SOUTHLAND RACES. Per Press 'Association. Invercaigd', January 4. The summer meeting o f ’ the Southland Lacing Club concluded to-day in line weather, and before a record attendance of the public. The sum of £14,817 passed through the totalisator, making a total of £29,247 for the meeting, as compared with a total of £27,961 for the summer meeting of 1914. The results of the racing were as follows : Summer Handicap, seven furlongs.-i~ 1 Lady Centon, 1; 4 Cortes, 2; 5 Varaniau, 3. Won by two and a half lengths, two lengths between second and, third. Time, Imin 30sec. Roslyn Handicap Trot, a mile and a-half.—l Lindeta, 1; 2 Chatswood, 2 ; 6 Eros, 3. Won by three lengths, a nose between second and third. Time,, 3min 39 3-osec.
Southland Handicap, a mile and a distance.—4 Scotch Melody, 1 ; 8 Ogier, 2; 3 Golden King, 3. Won by a head, Golden King a length and a half away. Time, Imin 58sec. Gladstone Handicap, one mile. —2 Feodor, 1; 1 Nelromn, 2 j 3 Pee le-s 3. Won by three lengths, a length between second and third.. Time, Imin 43 3-ssec.
Shorts Handicap, six furlongs.—2 Formnal, 1; 4 Marvelite, 2; Salsburg, 3. Won by one and a-half lengths, half a length between second and third, lime, Imin 15 2-ssec. Electric Handicap Trot, one mile.— 9 Ivan C.. 1; 3 Louvain Chimes, 2; 5 Led -Leak, 3. Won by two lengths, the third horse a length away. Time, 2rain 29 2-ssec. The winner returned a large dividend. Southland Stakes, one mile.—l Honesty, 1; 2 Golden Rupee, 2; 4 Cortes, 3. Won by half a length, the third horse a similar distance away. Time, Imin 43scc.
Final Handicap, one mile.—l Peg 1; 2 Martian Maid, 2; 3 Russo, 3. Won by a nose, Russo foui; lengths away. Time, Imin 42 3-ssec.
TROTTING. CREYMOUTH MEETING. Greymouth, January 4. There was splendid weather and a large attendance for the concluding day of the Greymouth Trotting Club’s meeting. The cup race was the finest race ever run on Victoria Park. The totalisator handled £9240, against £9128 on the corresponding clay of last year, bringing the total for the meeting to £18,771, as against £16,035 last year. Results:— Runanga Handicap, one and a half miles.—4 Fairy Whispers, 1; 10 Sidus, and 5 Childless, dead heat, 2. Won easily. Time, 3min 59 l-ssec. Hurricane Handicap, harness, one and a quarter miles.—3 Peony, 1; 1 Lady Bella, 2; Louie Drift, 3., Won by four lengths. Time, 3min 4 l-ssec. Tradesmen’s Handicap, saddle, one mile.—Little Rose, 1; Timepiece, 2; lanto, 3. Won easily. Time, 2min 35 l-ssec.
