bowling. WANGANUI TOURNAMENT. Per Press Assamatton. I Wanganui, December 30. Tbe Wanganui Christmas bowling tourney concluded to-day in ideal weather, West End (New Plymouth) winning, with Fitzroy (New Plymouth) runners-up. Thirty-six teams enteied, and the tourney was played in four sections. The four clubs in the semi-finals were: Wanganui, Terrace End, Fitzroy, and West End. The final between the last two named proved a splendid game, and was keenly contested throughout, the final scores being West End 21, Fitzroy 20. BOXING. A NOVEL DISQUALIFICATION. In the boxing contest at Wollongong (N.S.W.) Artie Powell was given the decision over Bert Barrett in the eighth round. Powell’s glove had become loose, and while the referee (Les Gleeson) was lacing it, Barrett sat on the ropes. For tins be was disqualified.
