The Cardiff annual school picnic was .eld in pleasant weather last Friday. There was an abundance of toys, etc., nd the children had a very pleasant lay. There was keen competition for lie various events. Mr 11. Masters, member of the Education Hoard, was rtresent during the day..

The prize distribution took place in .he evening. Mr Belcher distributed he prizes and Mr J.Rogers the special prizes. The special prize-winners vpre:—Best pupil in Standard V., T. 'Pebble; Standard IV., Rose Blair; ■tandard ITT.. Reginald Smith; Standard If., Helen Wisnewski; Standard ' . Elsie Smith. v Best spelling throughout the year, *ose Blair. *

Prize essay, Walter Barker. Most progress during year, Lena Brown.

Best behaved, Florice Mander. Excellent attendance—Freda Green,yell and Percy Crossley. Each of these •Hiklren secured first-class certificates.

After the prize distribution the chillren danced a Highland fling, which lie adults greatly appreciated. For he adult dancing, Mr J. Brown was MO., and the music was. supplied by M-hi rice and Victor Prebble.

On Saturday night a match was firsd between tlie Cardiff section of the .{ilie Club and Cardiff civilians. Twen-/-.ix attended. The following are the cores:—Riffle Club: J.
