THE STRATFORD RACES. JANUARY Ist and 2nd. As will be seen from the detailed list appearing on page two of this issue, the nominations for this popular holiday meeting have filled well. The events which closed yesterday claim a total of 246, compared to 224 for the same races last year. It must he remembered that nominations for the Borough Stakes, Farmers’ Plate, and Cardiff Stakes, all of which invariably draw large fields, do not close until the 21st inst.. so that the Club may confidently look forward to a big advance in patronage for their 1915 fixture. The following is a comparison of the 1914 and 1915 nominations so far received:—First Pay: Tariki Welter, 1914, 24; 1915, 19. Stratford Cut, 15—14; Railway Handicap, 29—2 w. Ohura Hurdles. 13—14; Mid hirst Handicap. 12—18: Flying Handicap, 10—18. Second Hay.—Toko Welter, 19—25: County Handicap, 27—14; Makuri Hurdles, 1-8—18; Dominion Handicap. 20—22 ; Strathmore Handicap. 20—26: Ladies’ Purse, 18—86; Ngaere Handicap. 14—15. Acceptances for the first day’s events close on the 21st inst.
